Reno, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today was awarded a “Heroes Award” by the Alliance for Retired Americans’ for her work in Congress representing the interests of Nevada’s seniors and retirees.
“The Alliance for Retired Americans works tirelessly to advocate for the financial security, health and wellbeing of Nevada’s seniors and retirees. I am honored to receive this award highlighting my commitment to protecting retired Nevadans’ hard earned benefits, retirement savings and their right to affordable, quality health care. Since my days as Nevada’s Attorney General, I have been an advocate for seniors, and I will continue to fight for the priorities of Nevada’s seniors and retirees in the Senate.”
The Alliance for Retired Americans’ 2017 Congressional Voting Record scored elected officials from both the U.S. House and Senate on ten key votes selected as votes of critical importance to retirees. In the Senate, those votes included votes to protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid and access to affordable health care, as well as to bolster retirement savings rules. Senator Cortez Masto stood with seniors and retirees on every single one of the Alliance’s legislative priorities.
