Cortez Masto Statement on One Year Since 1October

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement in recognition of the observance of one year since 58 innocent people were killed and hundreds more were injured at the Route 91 Harvest Music Festival Shooting on October 1st, 2017. Senator Cortez Masto will deliver a floor speech in the United States Senate to mark the one year remembrance later today:

“We’re still recovering from the events that took place on 1October. We’re still grieving for the family members who are no longer with us. And we’re still supporting the survivors whose lives will never be the same. Today—in remembrance of that awful night one year ago—let’s give thanks for the bravery and dedication of our first responders. Let’s give thanks to the community of Las Vegas. Their tremendous outpouring of generosity has shown the world what it means to be Vegas Strong. Let’s continue to do everything we can to support those who are still struggling to recover from the emotional and physical wounds they sustained on October 1st. May God Bless the city of Las Vegas, the State of Nevada, and everyone affected by this tragedy.”
