Cortez Masto Statement on Equal Pay Day 2018

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement today in recognition of Equal Pay Day:

“It is unacceptable that in 2018 women who work full-time still make only 80 cents for every dollar a white man makes – and the pay gap is even worse for women of color. All women deserve equal pay for equal work. Women are business owners, CEOs, teachers and leaders in America. The pay gap has only decreased five cents in the past 20 years  – it is far past the time our country stopped holding women back from achieving economic parity and security. We must stop this discrimination which inhibits women in Nevada, and throughout the country, from adequately providing for their families. We must reaffirm our commitment to closing the wage gap, passing the Paycheck Fairness Act and to helping ensure women receive the opportunities and resources they need to thrive.”
