Cortez Masto Hosts Call with Nevada Delegation, HHS, CDC on Nevada Vaccine Distribution

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) hosted a call with Nevada’s Congressional delegation members and staff, including offices of Senator Jacky Rosen (D-Nev), Congresswoman Dina Titus (D-Nev.-01), Congressman Mark Amodei (R-Nev.-02), Congressman Steven Horsford (D-Nev.-04), and Congresswoman Susie Lee (D-Nev.-03), as well as Dr. David Fitter, co-lead of the CDC COVID-19 Task Force, and AJ Pearlman, chief of staff for COVID-19 Response at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

During the call, the delegation discussed the allocation of vaccines to the State and confirmed that HHS and the CDC will work with the state of Nevada to ensure that the state’s population-based vaccine allocation is consistent with those of others states across the country. In addition, they discussed the importance of fairly distributing doses to at-risk populations throughout Nevada. The CDC and HHS also outlined several steps they have taken to improve vaccine allocation and distribution nationwide, including increasing the overall doses allocated to states by 20% before the end of February and beginning their rollout of vaccines to select retail pharmacies. Going forward, the delegation called for further collaboration between the Administration and the state of Nevada to ensure quick vaccination of as many Nevadans as possible.

“We requested this call discuss the Administration’s vaccination plan and advocate for the Silver State. The CDC and HHS addressed many of our concerns, and we’re committed to working together to ensure Nevada is receiving its fair share of vaccines. We’re in constant communication with the Administration to advocate for Nevada and ensure that we can keep ramping up our vaccine distribution in an efficient, equitable way. Vaccinating Nevadans as quickly as possible will save lives and help end this pandemic, and we’ll continue to do all we can to get doses distributed and shots in arms.”
