Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) joined Senators Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.), Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) and 39 of her Senate colleagues in introducing the Save the Internet Act of 2019. This legislation would undo the FCC’s 2017 rule to repeal net neutrality, and prohibit any similar attempt in the future.
“Americans should be able to access a fair and open internet, yet FCC Chairman Pai’s repeal of net neutrality has made it harder for working families, community libraries and small businesses to rely on fair and consistent internet service. I’m proud to support legislation that will restore an open internet and protect Nevadans who rely on net neutrality protections to grow their businesses, pursue their educational goals and keep their families connected.”

BACKGROUND:
This past May, the Senate passed a Congressional Review Act with a bipartisan vote to reinstate Net Neutrality protections after it was repealed by FCC Chairman Ajit Pai, yet the measure failed to be brought up for a vote in the House during the last Congress.
