Cortez Masto: Casino Workers Deserve to Have Their Rights Upheld

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement after Las Vegas union members voted in favor of better pay, enhanced workplace safety and stronger anti-harassment policies. There are ongoing negotiations to renew contracts, which will expire on June 1st, between Las Vegas hotel and casino properties, Culinary Workers Union Local 226 and Bartenders Union Local 165.

“Hotel and casino workers work behind the scenes and in the front of the house to keep our city thriving – cooking meals, cleaning rooms, parking cars and showing why Las Vegas hospitality is the best in the world. Our workers deserve to have their rights upheld and to demand better working conditions and better pay. I stand with Las Vegas workers and I am hopeful and optimistic that the unions and casino and hotel operators will reach an agreement soon.”
