Las Vegas, Nev. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) today attended a citizenship naturalization ceremony at Red Rock Canyon. Cortez Masto addressed newly naturalized citizens to emphasize the importance of diversity, and encouraged them to partake in civic engagement.
“I am honored to share this moment with the newest members of our American family. The journey to get here is not always easy, and this is a moment many of them have waited long for. Immigrants bring something unique to the fabric of American history and society, and they contribute so much to the strength and success of the nation. Diversity is an essential facet to our identity as Americans, and this country would not thrive without it.
“I hope that they take this opportunity as new Americans to use their voices and embrace their civic duty to make a positive change in their communities. Together, they will carry the torch of progress for the next generation of Americans.”
