Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced $8,971,413 in grants for Nevada organizations from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to provide clean water infrastructure, improve housing related safety, invest in trainings to assist local communities recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and help the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe’s environmental programs.

BACKGROUND:
The awards will be as follows:
- $7,780,000 to the Carson City’s Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources from the EPA to fund the Clean Water State Revolving Fund (CWSRF) program to provide low interest financing to recipients for costs associated with the planning, design, and construction of eligible water quality improvement and protection projects.
- $530,891 to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas from HUD to fund studies to improve the public and agency’s knowledge of housing-related health and safety hazards.
- $422,522 to the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe from the EPA to continue their environmental programs and address their highest environmental priorities.
- $158,000 to Carson City’s Nevada Department of Conservation and Natural Resources from the EPA to test for lead in drinking water at local childcare facilities.
- $80,000 to GreenUP! from the EPA to provide a series of professional trainings that go over how to adapt to the changing economic situation during the COVID-19 pandemic and business recovery practices that incorporate pollution prevention practices.
