Cortez Masto Announces $31 Million From Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to Support Renovations at the Harry Reid International Airport

Washington, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senator Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced that $31,000,000 she secured as part of the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will be awarded to the Harry Reid International Airport to help them make vital improvements. Senator Cortez Masto pushed for the airport to receive this funding so it can better serve the millions of Nevadans and visitors who travel to Las Vegas each year.

“The Harry Reid International Airport is seeing record numbers of passengers, and this historic funding I secured in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law will improve the travel experience of the millions who come through Las Vegas each year,” said Senator Cortez Masto.

“Senator Cortez Masto has tirelessly supported air travel in Southern Nevada. By helping to secure this funding, she has ensured the airport is prepared to meet the demand of future growth,” said Rosemary Vassiliadis, Clark County Director of Aviation. “We are thankful to all the members of the Nevada Congressional delegation who voted for this historic investment in airport infrastructure and supported this project. These funds will allow us to modernize our baggage handling systems, allowing for more efficient air travel and an enhanced customer experience as Las Vegas continues its evolution as the sports and entertainment capital of the world.”

The Harry Reid International Airport grant will help enhance the capacity, security, reliability, energy efficiency, and sustainability of the airport’s baggage handling system and replace aging infrastructure in the airport’s baggage claims.

Senator Cortez Masto delivered funding in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to support important airport improvement across Nevada. She also secured more than $155 million in the American Rescue Plan to help the recovery of Nevada’s airports after pushing the administration to do more to support Nevada’s airports, airport concessions small businesses, and airline workers enduring direct losses due to the pandemic.
