Cortez Masto Commemorates Hispanic Heritage Month

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) released the following statement celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month, which begins on Tuesday, September 15th and ends on Thursday, October 15th.

“Today, I honor Hispanic Heritage Month and the rich heritage of Nevada’s Latino community. More than one in four Nevadans is Latino, and many of them grew up as I did, with memories of my grandfather playing traditional songs on his guitar and my grandmother making tamales for the family on Sundays. But our history in the state goes far deeper, stretching from the time of the American Revolution through to today. In Nevada’s beautifully diverse communities, I see both a reverence for our shared past and a hope for a future we build together. I’m proud to represent Nevada’s Hispanic community and to bring our voices to Washington to build that future.”
