Cortez Masto Announces Over $3.5 Million to Improve Las Vegas Road Safety

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) announced that Southern Nevada will receive $3,539,000 through the Safe Streets and Roads for All program to support projects that will improve road safety and prevent roadway deaths across the Las Vegas valley. Senator Cortez Masto funded this program through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.

“Last year was one of the deadliest on Nevada roads, and I’m focused on making our streets safer for our families,” said Senator Cortez Masto. “This funding I delivered will help Southern Nevada and the City of Las Vegas implement comprehensive safety plans, prevent deadly crashes, and keep Nevadans safe.”

The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Southern Nevada will receive $1,684,000 to develop a comprehensive safety action plan, and the City of Las Vegas will receive $1,855,000 to update their Vision Zero safety action plan and improve data management and reporting.

Senator Cortez Masto has focused on efforts to improve the safety of Nevada’s roads. In addition to helping pass broad road safety improvements in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, she expanded the Safe Routes to Schools program , which protects students who walk or bike to school, to include high schools.
