Cortez Masto Cosponsors Clean Energy for America Act

Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Catherine Cortez Masto (D-Nev.) cosponsored the Clean Energy for America Act of 2019, which would streamline several existing energy-related tax incentives to consolidate tax deductions and credits for the production of or investment in clean electricity, the production of clean transportation fuels, and energy efficient homes and commercial buildings. The bill was introduced by Senator Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).

“Nevada’s leadership in renewable energy technology is setting an example to the rest of the country on how we can move away from our unsustainable dependency on fossil fuels. As the Innovation State, we’ve seen that investing in our state’s clean energy future has yielded not just jobs for Nevadans, but a responsible solution to address the existential threat of climate change. The Clean Energy for America Act will further Nevada’s growth in this thriving industry by increasing our capacity for renewable energy production, while also supporting our efforts to protect the environment.”

In addition to Senators Cortez Masto and Wyden, this legislation is also cosponsored by Senators Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.), Maria Cantwell (D-Wash.), Bob Menendez (D-N.J.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Ben Cardin (D-Md.), Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Chris Coons (D-Del.), Brian Schatz (D-Hawaii), Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), Angus King (I-Maine), Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Tammy Duckworth (D-Ill.) and Maggie Hassan (D-N.H.).
