Esta legislaci&oacute;n prohibir&aacute; al Departamento de Seguridad Nacional detener a las inmigrantes embarazadas excepto en circunstancias extraordinarias, prohibir&aacute; el encadenamiento de mujeres embarazadas bajo su custodia y establecer&aacute; nuevos est&aacute;ndares de cuidado y transparencia para el trato de las mujeres embarazadas y los j&oacute;venes.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Las mujeres embarazadas necesitan un ambiente seguro y acceso regular a cuidado m&eacute;dico &ndash; no deben ser detenidas. La pr&aacute;ctica de encadenar a embarazadas detenidas es una barbarie cruel e inhumana. El Congreso debe actuar para proporcionar alternativas m&aacute;s seguras y sanas. Me enorgullece copatrocinar legislaci&oacute;n que se centra en el trato humano a las personas detenidas y que garantiza que las madres inmigrantes sean tratadas con respeto y dignidad y reciban el cuidado m&eacute;dico adecuado.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Este proyecto de ley tambi&eacute;n fue copatricinado por los senadores Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Cory Booker (D-N.J.), Tom Carper (D-Del.), Richard J. Markey (D-Mass.), Robert Menendez (D-N.J.), Chris Murphy (D-Conn.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) y Ron Wyden (D-Ore.).<\/p>\n<p><b><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">CONTEXTO:<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n<p>El proyecto de ley &ldquo;<i>Fin al encadenamiento y la detenci&oacute;n de mujeres embarazadas&rdquo; <\/i>se present&oacute; en respuesta a la decisi&oacute;n del gobierno de Trump de poner fin a una pol&iacute;tica de la era de Obama que presume la liberaci&oacute;n de mujeres embarazadas y j&oacute;venes de la custodia de la Oficina de Inmigraci&oacute;n y Control de Aduanas (ICE, por sus siglas en ingl&eacute;s).
